2008 The Coast and Canada - Catch Us If You Can!
February... Found us 'knee deep' & 'Corvette Cool'
in snow! A beautiful sunny day - snow glistening on mountains
above us, Feather River rolling along below us & Corvettes
on winding roads in front of us... what a sight!
JUNE: 4TH ANNUAL CORVETTE COAST CRUISE
14 Cars enjoyed the winding roads &
27 people enjoyed the giant redwoods -

The California Coast & The Skunk Train!!
Ahh!! Life is good! Thank you David & Tina!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JULY: CANADA HERE WE COME!!
Our first day found us at Collier State Park in Oregon -
an amazing place, full of logging history & the story
of woodsmen that loved the land & endured so much!

On our Second day we traveled the back roads
through Oregon, to White River Falls State Park
with its beautiful waterfalls - just off Hwy. 216

And then.. on to lunch in Wasco, Oregon at the
Lean To Broiler & Goose Pit Saloon"!
Great Food & great service!
That evening... we stayed in Ritzville, Washington
"puttin' on the Ritz" with The Ritzville Classic Car Club!
A special thanks to Ann & Terry for everything!
Our third day found us in Post Falls Idaho at
The Hot Rod Cafe... pretty cool! However, it was decided
that the next time we come here, we'll eat at Denny's...
North to Canada! EH!
Exploring Canada via Idaho's Port of Entry...
& staying at the Kokanee Chalets...

on Kootenay Lake in Crawford Bay, British Columbia was so exciting!

Ask JoAnn & 'Run the Border Bob' about this!

Bob is such a tiger!!_______________________

Riding the ferry with our Corvettes was a special
opportunity rarely experienced by a Corvette group.

WE RODE A TROLLY CAR IN NELSON, B.C. &
HAD A PICNIC IN THE PARK ON THE RIVER!!
BLUE LEADER DOES IT AGAIN!!!

Blue Leader took us on a tour to the Kootenay Lake
Lighthouse - what a road!! Two couples that live there,
were hiking to the light house; they could not believe
we came up that road through the 'slick switch backs' &
said they've only seen 4 wheel drive vehicles on that road
& never ever expected to see Corvettes up there"
THANK YOU BLUE LEADER!!

We visited the Embalming Bottle House in Boswell...
we were surprised when they quoted us $8. each to enter...
"Bonnie asked $8. each or per couple?" the man said
"It's $8. each but we 'll treat you like a lady!"
Bonnie replied "Well, charge me $4. & treat me like a HO!"
Exiting Canada via Washington State Port of Entry...
made us grateful we all had our passports, they were
very serious about their jobs, and we are thankful they
are keeping our borders safe.
Next we realized how fortunate we were to stubble upon
& get to ride the last Ferry operating on the Columbia River,
in the State of Washington. Inchelium-Gifford Ferry.
A tribe of indians living across the river in Inchelium,
population 389, use this ferry as a means of transportation.
The Inchelium-Gifford Ferry is operated by the
Bureau of Indian Affairs. There is no charge to ride this ferry.
The Ferry boat is named the Columbian Princess.
None of us had ever ridden a ferry before, much less
put our Corvettes on one and now we've gone on two.
How Serendipitous is that?!!
NOW... to Coulee Dam & the Laser Light Show

--OH MY GOSH!-- WHAT AN INCREDIBLY
SERENDIPITOUS EVENT THAT WAS! Darlene
insisted on discovering an odd shaped structure
on the hill side, so we all drove up there, low and behold
it was the most exciting place to watch the Laser Show WOW!!!
Our hotel was exceptional that evening in
Electric City Skydeck Motel overlooking the
Columbia River. Beautiful just beautiful!
On the 7th day we left Coulee Dam and found,
just by chance, Dry Falls. We stopped
at the visitor center, watched a movie about
how coulee's are formed, & what coulees are (ha!)
& admired the spectacular views.
Then on to Pendleton, Oregon to the
Tamástslikt Cultural Institute - The Tamastslkt
Indians have lived on that land for 10,000 years.
After leaving the cultural center we went to Long Creek
where Chris graduated High School... we enjoyed a pizza
party in the park, visited the cemetery & walked the entire
town and witnessed an incredible rainbow.
The next morning we went directly to John Day for breakfast
and then on to the 'Pairey City & Huckleberry Car Show'
We continued to Hunter's Hot Springs Resort near
Lakeview Oregon, to see 'Old Perpetual'
Oregon's only continuously spouting
geyser shooting plumes of 200 degree water over 60 feet
into the air every 90 seconds... but guess what? He was dry as dirt.
We'll have to try it again someday!
In Alturas that night, we ate Mexican food together
& just went to sleep!
But the 9th day out... we were rested and ready to get
back on the road & go home!!
HEY Chris, you owe Teri 50 cents
By crisscrossing the States of Washington &
Oregon, we were able to experience - great people,
small towns, out of the way places, exciting roads,
and Serendipity every place we went! What a trip!!
............ :BJOIN IN OR MISS OUT!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
